Science Maths Academy (SMA)
Jinibara State School works in partnership with Narangba Valley State High School. Students in Years 4-6 are provided with the opportunity to apply for a position in a Science and Maths extension program known as the Science Maths Academy.
The Science Maths Academy (SMA) is the well renowned STEM excellence program at NVSHS for students in grades 4 through 10. The SMA Primary School Program students learn the same Science and Maths topics as detailed in the Australian Curriculum for their year level. The program endeavours to inspire students in their learning with a greater depth of content and access to equipment for projects/experiments that they would not normally have access to.
Students wishing to enter the Science Maths Academy are required to apply to NVSHS and to participate in a selective entry process. Please refer to the NVSHS link below for more information.

QAR
The Question-Answer Relationship (QAR) strategy is a ‘three-way’ model which considers the relationship between questions, text content, and reader knowledge.
Therefore students who understand how questions are written are better prepared to answer questions. These activities help students to clarify the question-building process as a step toward better reading comprehension.
The QAR strategy breaks questions into two general categories; ‘In the Book’ (literal) questions and ‘In My Head’ (inferential) questions.
